GENERAL EVENT INFORMATION

RATON, NEW MEXICO'S MASTER OF THE MOUNTAIN ADVENTURE RACE:

COURSE:
Trail run (approx. 6 miles)
Paddling (approx. 3 miles)
Biking (approx. 22 miles)
Shooting course (tactical shotgun with stations)

Participants will begin the event by starting at the south boat ramp of Lake Maloya in Sugarite Canyon State Park and run/hike approx. 6 miles around Horseshoe Mesa returning to the boat ramp where they will then transition to their kayak/canoe. They will then paddle a course on the Lake Maloya of approx. 3 miles, returning to the south boat ramp. Once back at the boat ramp they will transition to their bike where they will then bike 22 miles from the boat ramp through the State Park and the City of Raton to the Raton Trap Club, where they will transition to the Shotgun Shooting component of the event.

- What: 4 component sprint distance adventure race comprised of a hiking/trail running component, a paddling component, a biking component and a shotgun shooting component. All on designated routes.
- When: Saturday, September 7th. & MANDATORY pre-race meeting on Friday, September 6th, 2019, 6pm, SPSJ Parish Hall.
- Time: 8am at the South Boat Ramp of Lake Maloya, Sugarite Canyon State Park and through Raton, New Mexico. Competitors usually finish between 3-4 1/2 hours plus shooting component; cut off time is 2pm.
- Who: Solo competitors or 2-4 person relay teams. Many competitors are in it to win, so there is a good level of competition. Many others enjoy the personal challenge. Participants are at all levels of competition, from beginner to expert.
